1. What is the Morninga Tree?

.     Moringa oleifera is the best known of 14 species of the Moringa tree (Morningaceae). It is a fast-growing, drought resistant tree native to sub-Himalayan tracts of Northern India. It is now growing worldwide in the tropics, sub-tropcis and now, Africa.
.     Its leaves and pods have great nutritional value yielding many vitamins and minerals. It is currently promoted in Africa as a nutritional supplement for children and mothers.
.     Parts of the tree can also be used as animal forage, a domestic cleaning agent, perfume, dye, fertilizer, medicine, a water clarifying agent, fiber for rope, and as an agent for tanning hides.  [Read more?]

2. How goats empower rural African families.

.     Our "Goat Project" is designed to reduce poverty by enabling marginal African farmers and herders to make sustainable improvements to their well-being through more effective management of their renewable natural resources. We work in partnership with communities, governments, local organizations, international NGOs and the private sector to develop strong rural livelihoods and then share the results of our work with others to maximum the favorable impact to similar other groups.
.     Straight Forward non-profit aims to ultimately help to reduce proverty in villages surrounding Kampala and the orphanage by providing a sustainable improvement to the lives of many poverty stricken families and a rural livelihood that can have a perpetual impact through the gifting of goat offsprings with other families.
