. Established
in 2000, Director Christopher "Chris" Lubega made his first visit to the U.S.
in 1997 to raise financial support for the orphanage and school which supports both widows and orphans.
With a budding of financial support by U.S. sponsors in
2002, a small lot of
land was purchased with an option to purchase more.
. A small building was
built using local volunteers and materials purchased with sponsored
funds and the orphanage formally opened in 2001. Now there are dormitories and a kitchen has been added to the
main all purpose building.
. New Hope Orphanage & School provides
food, lodging, clothing and day school - grades 1 through 8 - to now
over 400 orphans. In addition, the orphanage features sports teams and
also has a small clinic where medical professionals may visit to treat
on a regular basis the various members of both the orphanage children
as well as the staff.
. NH Orphanage opened the doors in 2001 to 150 orphans. At that time we did not have running water or electricity.
We only had 2 buildings and an outhouse. Our
dormitory was also the main building with one side for boys, one for girls. We
now have one new dormitory and one under construction.
